Effective 19 October 2026
The short version
- nile.guide itself sets no cookies.
- We store one setting in your browser's local storage: your choice for the booking calendars.
- The GetYourGuide and Tiqets calendars on our pages may set their own cookies when they load.
- If you choose "Only on click" in the calendar settings, those calendars load only when you ask for one.
- Partner sites set their own cookies once you click through to them.
We have no analytics, no advertising and no social media buttons, so there are no tracking cookies from us or from tools of that kind.
What we store in your browser
| Name | Where | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
ng-cc |
Your browser's local storage, for nile.guide | Remembers whether the booking calendars load automatically or only on click | Until you change it or clear your browser's site data |
Local storage works like a cookie in that it lives in your browser, but it is never sent to our server with your requests. We cannot read it from our side, and it contains no personal information, only your calendar setting.
Cookies from the booking calendars
Many of our pages show a live availability calendar from GetYourGuide or Tiqets, so you can check dates and prices without leaving the guide. These calendars are the only third-party code on the site.
When a calendar loads, your browser connects to the partner's servers. The partner receives your IP address and may set or read its own cookies. Those cookies belong to the partner and are covered by its own cookie and privacy policies, not by ours.
Your choice:
- Automatic (the default): the calendars load with the page.
- Only on click: the calendars stay switched off and load only when you click to open one. Until then, no request goes to GetYourGuide or Tiqets.
You can change the setting at any time in the calendar settings on any page with a calendar. The choice is saved under ng-cc, as above.
When you click a booking link
Our booking links go straight to GetYourGuide, Headout or Tiqets. Once you are on their site, they set their own cookies under their own policies. These may include a cookie that records you arrived from nile.guide, so that a booking can be credited to us as an affiliate. That does not change the price you pay. See our disclaimer for how affiliate commission works.
Maps and fonts
Our maps are drawn from public-domain Natural Earth data and are part of the page. Our fonts are self-hosted. Neither loads anything from a third-party server, and neither sets cookies.
How to remove or block cookies
- To reset your calendar choice, clear the site data for nile.guide in your browser settings. The calendars then go back to loading automatically until you choose again.
- To stop partner cookies everywhere, block third-party cookies in your browser settings. The calendars may then not work fully, but every product can still be opened on the partner's own site.
- To remove partner cookies already set, clear cookies for the partner's domain in your browser.
Changes
If we add a tool that stores anything in your browser, we will list it here and update the effective date. More about the data we handle: privacy policy. Questions: contact@nile.guide, or see our contact page.
