Disclaimer: how to use the information on nile.guide

nile.guide gives independent information, not bookings or official advice. Prices, ships, entry fees and travel rules in Egypt change often: check the details with the seller and the official source before you rely on them.

Independent, not official

nile.guide is an independent editorial site. It is not the official site of any ship, hotel group, river line, tour operator, museum or Egyptian authority, and it is not affiliated with any of them. Ship names, brand names and logos mentioned on the site belong to their owners and are used only to identify the products we write about.

Information can change

We check facts against the sources that set them and date every page. Even so, details in Egypt change quickly, and some change without notice:

  • Prices. Platform prices are read on the date shown on each page and quoted as "from" prices per person. The live price for your date is the one on the booking calendar or the partner's site.
  • Ships. Most cruises on the booking platforms say "5-star ship or similar": the operator assigns the ship and may change it. Ships are renamed, refitted, sold or laid up. Ask the operator for the ship's name, cabin deck and inclusions before you pay.
  • Itineraries. Operators change sailing times and visits because of river levels, lock queues, weather and official instructions. A published timetable is a plan, not a promise.
  • Entry fees and opening hours. We quote the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities ticket shop, egymonuments.com, on the date shown. Fees have risen several times in recent years.
  • Visas and travel rules. For example, the visa on arrival rose from US$25 to US$30 on 1 March 2026 and is due to rise to US$33 from 1 January 2027. Check the official portal, visa2egypt.gov.eg, before you travel.

Not professional advice

Our guides are general travel information. They are not legal, medical, financial or safety advice for your situation. Before you travel, read the UK Foreign Office's Egypt travel advice or your own government's equivalent, and health advice such as TravelHealthPro. Check that your travel insurance covers the activities you book, such as a balloon flight.

Reviews and scores

Our ship and operator reviews are editorial opinions based on information we could check. Editorial scores are our own judgement, not an average of guest reviews. Where facts could not be confirmed, we say so or leave them out. We don't accept payment for reviews, scores or placement. Ratings and review counts shown for platform products are the platforms' own figures on the date of the page.

nile.guide earns a commission when you book through our links to GetYourGuide (partner programme), Headout and Tiqets (affiliate programmes). These links and the booking calendars are marked as sponsored and go straight to the partner. The price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the partner directly.

The commission never decides what we write. We say when a platform listing is weaker, dearer or less clear than an alternative, including alternatives we earn nothing from, such as booking a ship directly with its operator.

Bookings are with the seller

We don't sell anything and we are not a party to your booking. When you book, your contract is with the platform and the activity provider, or with the operator you book directly, under their terms, cancellation rules and privacy policies. We are not responsible for an operator's changes, ship swaps, cancellations or prices. For questions about a booking, contact the company you booked with. Full conditions are in our terms of use.

Pages include booking calendars from GetYourGuide and Tiqets and links to official and third-party sites. We don't control their content or availability, and they may set their own cookies; see our cookie policy and privacy policy. Maps use Natural Earth data, which is in the public domain.
