Nile Maxim is the big-name dinner boat in Cairo, and it earns its reputation with a central mooring, a proper set dinner and a full show. Our verdict in one line: a good, polished evening, worth booking by name rather than through a generic "Nile dinner cruise" listing, but compare platforms first, because one of them charges almost double for the same boat and the same 20:00 sailing.

The boat: one level, 240 seats, and why the table matters
The Nile Maxim moors on the Gezira island bank in Zamalek, on Saray El Gezira Street, directly in front of the Cairo Marriott Hotel. It is not a Marriott outlet: the hotel's own dining list has no boat, and the Maxim venues are run by a separate company that opened them in 1995. Nor is it near Marriott Mena House, which is at the Giza pyramids, about 15 km away; give the right hotel to your taxi driver.
Dinner is served on a single level for up to 240 guests. That is the key fact for choosing a ticket. On a boat with an open top deck you can step out for the view; on the Maxim, a table away from the windows looks at the stage and other diners. Sellers name the sights along the way as Al Funun Garden, the Four Seasons at Nile Plaza, Qasr el-Nil Bridge and Cairo Tower.
The same complex also runs moored restaurants and adults-only lounges at the same spot. They don't sail; the dinner cruise is the one that leaves the quay, and it is open to all ages.

The 20:00 departure is after dark for most of the year; only in midsummer, when Cairo's sunset is around 20:00, does it leave at dusk. If a sunset sailing is the point, the Nile Crystal runs a 6 pm boat.
Dress is smart casual: no beachwear, and smart shoes are recommended. During Ramadan, check the sitting time and the show with the seller (FCDO advice on Ramadan in Egypt).
Nile Maxim menu and drinks
The menu card that resellers supply describes a set menu with a salad bar: a choice of grilled chicken, sea bass fillet or veal piccata, with nougat glacé for dessert. Some listings say "buffet" or "à la carte", so check your voucher, but expect to be served at your table.
Drinks are not included on any listing, and that includes water. Alcohol is sold on board at extra cost. Budget for it, and carry some cash as well as a card.
Nile Maxim price: compare before you book
The Nile Maxim is sold on Headout, Tiqets and GetYourGuide, often by the same Cairo agencies (Tiqets names its supplier as FTS Travels). Same boat, same 20:00 sailing, very different prices:
| Platform | Listing | Rating | Price | Where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Headout | Nile Maxim Luxury Cairo Dinner Cruise with Live Entertainment · 3 h | 4.7 (302) | $70 Lowest | See on Headout |
| Tiqets | Cairo: Nile Maxim Dinner Cruise + Belly Dance & Tanura + Optional Transfers · 2 h | 4.7 (3) | $75 | See on Tiqets |
| GetYourGuide | Cairo: Luxury Nile Maxim Dinner Cruise, Belly Dance & Tanura · 3 h | 3.9 (54) | $123 | See on GetYourGuide |
Lowest price per person in US dollars, checked on 19 October 2026. Ship, cabin, departure day and what is included differ between listings: open each one before you pay.
Today Headout is cheapest for the standard ticket at $70, Tiqets is close at $75 with optional transfers, and GetYourGuide's listing is $123 and the lowest rated (3.9 from 54 reviews). There is no reason to pay the GetYourGuide price for the standard dinner. One caution on Headout: its system labels the Maxim prices as per group, so read the price line on the booking page and confirm whether $70 is per person or for your party before you pay.
Window or stage seats: what "Headout Exclusive" means
Headout's "Exclusive" listing is the same dinner with a guaranteed window or stage table, pre-booked by its supplier with the boat. Note the "or": you are promised one of the two, not a window. The boat, menu and show are identical.
| Platform | Listing | Rating | Price | Where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GetYourGuide | Cairo: Nile Maxim Luxury VIP Dinner Cruise & Belly Dance · 2.5 h | 5.0 (1) | $68 Lowest | See on GetYourGuide |
| Headout | Headout Exclusive: Nile Maxim Luxury Cairo Dinner Cruise with Live Entertainment and Guaranteed Window/Stage Seating · 2 h | 4.7 (151) | $75 | See on Headout |
Lowest price per person in US dollars, checked on 19 October 2026. Ship, cabin, departure day and what is included differ between listings: open each one before you pay.
The upgrade costs $5 on Headout (from $75 against $70). GetYourGuide's newer "VIP" listing is from $68 but has a single review. On this boat, where the window is the only view, the upgrade is worth it; ask the seller for a window rather than the stage when you book.

What travellers say
On the platforms, the two Headout listings rate 4.7 from 302 and 151 reviews, Tiqets' 4.7 from only 3, and GetYourGuide's 3.9 from 54. The boat is the same, so the gap says more about the agency handling the booking and transfers than about the dinner. Check before booking:
- Transfers: pick-up covers central Cairo and Giza hotels; New Cairo, Heliopolis, 6th of October and the airport usually cost extra.
- Accessibility: one platform lists wheelchair access, another warns of boarding steps. Ask the seller before booking.
- Cancellation: Headout's window-or-stage listing refunds in full up to 24 hours ahead; Tiqets' dinner cruises cancel free up to 24 hours; most GetYourGuide bookings cancel free up to 24 hours.
There is no working official Nile Maxim website, so book through a platform or a hotel concierge.
How to book the Nile Maxim
Booking the Nile Maxim without surprises
- Compare the boat by name on Headout, Tiqets and GetYourGuide; ignore unnamed "Nile dinner cruise" listings.
- Choose standard or window-or-stage seating; on this boat, pay for the window.
- Check whether the price is per person or per group, and whether transfers are included for your hotel's district.
- Bring cash or a card for drinks, and arrive at the Zamalek quay by 19:30.
Alternatives to the Nile Maxim
- Nile Crystal: cheaper (from $27–31), open buffet, a top deck, and a 6 pm sunset sailing from Maadi.
- Nile Pharaohs: pharaonic-style boat on the Giza bank, with a late 22:30 sitting.
- Named newer boats on GetYourGuide such as Opal (from $45, 4.7 from 401 reviews) and Royal Topaz (from $51, 4.7 from 228).
- A private felucca for a quiet evening without a show: see felucca rides in Cairo.
The full comparison is in our Cairo dinner cruise guide. If you've heard of a "Marriott dinner cruise", this page explains it: the boat in front of the Marriott is the Nile Maxim.
Nile Maxim dinner cruise: FAQ
Where does the Nile Maxim dinner cruise leave from?
Saray El Gezira Street in Zamalek, directly in front of the Cairo Marriott Hotel. It is not at Marriott Mena House by the pyramids.
How much is the Nile Maxim dinner cruise?
From $70 on Headout, $75 on Tiqets and $123 on GetYourGuide for the standard dinner and show. A guaranteed window-or-stage table is from $75 on Headout. Drinks are extra.
What time does the Nile Maxim sail?
Daily at 20:00 for about two hours. Arrive 30 minutes early; hotel pick-up comes 45–90 minutes before departure.
Is the Nile Maxim a buffet?
The menu card resellers supply is a set menu with a salad bar: grilled chicken, sea bass or veal, then dessert. Some listings say buffet, so check your voucher.
Is the Nile Maxim run by Marriott?
No. It moors in front of the Cairo Marriott but is run by a separate company; the hotel lists no boat among its restaurants.
