Wings Tours & Nile Cruises: what we know and what to book instead

Wings Tours & Nile Cruises has no working official website: its known web addresses lead to parked or "coming soon" pages. The only concrete facts are four ship names published by a US tour operator. Unless a seller you trust offers it, book a comparable 5-star cruise you can verify.

The name Wings Tours & Nile Cruises is still attached to a small fleet of Nile cruise ships, but the company behind it is hard to pin down. Our verdict: we can't recommend booking Wings directly, because there is no working site to book through or check; if a tour operator you trust includes a Wings ship, judge the ship and the operator, not the brand.

What Wings Tours & Nile Cruises is today

The web addresses connected with the Wings name no longer work as booking sites: one redirects to a domain-parking page, one shows a "coming soon" placeholder, and two others are parked. We don't link to any of them. No legal name, head office or licence number is published.

What remains is the fleet. Friendly Planet Travel, a US tour operator, presents a "Wings Group" fleet of four Nile cruise ships on its website. That is the only current description of the Wings ships.

The Wings Group ships

According to Friendly Planet, the Wings Group fleet is:

  • M/S Tulip
  • M/S Jasmin
  • M/S Tamr Henna, with cabins of 18–22 m² and large sliding windows
  • M/S Orchid

The shared features it lists are a lounge and bar, a sun deck with a pool and bar, a shop and a laundry service. Other details (cabin counts, build years, weekdays, prices) are not published by the company.

An "MS Tulip" is also sold by Egyptian agencies with 50 units, including two single cabins without a supplement; read our MS Tulip review. Whether that is the same ship as Friendly Planet's M/S Tulip is not stated, so don't assume it.

Can you book a Wings Nile cruise?

Not directly. With no working website, the only practical way onto a Wings ship is through a tour operator that includes one in its package, such as Friendly Planet in the US. In that case your contract is with that operator, and that is the company to judge: its terms, its reviews and its cancellation policy.

If an Egyptian agent offers you a "Wings" cruise, ask before you pay:

Checking a Nile cruise company you can't find online

  1. The company's full legal name, street address and a working website or email domain.
  2. The exact ship name, cabin deck and sailing weekday, in writing.
  3. What the price includes: entry fees, guide, transfers, tips.
  4. The deposit amount and the cancellation scale.
  5. A payment method with buyer protection, not a cash transfer.

If the answers are vague, walk away. There are plenty of Nile cruise companies that publish all of this; see Nile cruise companies for how ship operators, agencies and platforms differ.

What to book instead

The simplest comparable trip is a 3- or 4-night 5-star cruise on GetYourGuide, where you can read hundreds of reviews and cancel free up to 24 hours ahead on most bookings. The ship is assigned by the operator ("5-star ship or similar"), so ask for its name after booking.

If you want a named ship booked through a company you can check, an established Egyptian agency such as Memphis Tours names the ship and publishes its inclusions.
