The Esadora Nile cruise is a standard Luxor–Aswan trip on MS Royal Esadora, a mid-sized ship that Egyptian agencies sell as "5-star deluxe". Our verdict in one line: a sound, middle-of-the-road choice with a lift and Juliet-balcony cabins, priced like many of its neighbours, and nothing that justifies hunting for it by name. If an agency offers it at the fares below with entry fees included, take it; if not, a comparable cruise on the platforms does the same river for less.

Verdict
3.4/ 5
A conventional Monday/Friday ship with a few practical pluses (a lift, Juliet-balcony cabins, pool and bar on the sun deck) and agency fares in the middle of the market. The owner is not published, there is no direct booking channel and internet only works when the ship is docked. Book it through an agency that writes the ship's name on your confirmation, or take a comparable platform cruise.

Pros
- Lift on board, which not every Nile ship has

Cons

The ship: MS Royal Esadora
Royal Esadora is a conventional Nile motor ship of the kind that makes up most of the fleet between Luxor and Aswan. The agencies that sell it describe a pool and bar on the sun deck, a massage room, fitness equipment, a lift and cabins with French (Juliet) balconies. That last phrase matters: a Juliet balcony is a full-height door that opens onto a rail. You get fresh air and a better view, but not a balcony you can sit out on. At busy moorings ships often tie up side by side, so your window may face the next ship whatever the cabin type.
The lift is the most useful detail. Not every Nile ship has one, so if anyone in your party struggles with stairs, Royal Esadora deserves a place on your shortlist. Ask the agency which deck your cabin is on and whether the lift serves it.
The internet works only when the ship is docked, and the sellers describe it as intermittent and chargeable. Expect to be offline while sailing, and use a data eSIM in Luxor and Aswan if you need to stay connected.
Neither the owner nor the cabin count is published, and the ship has no official website. That is common for independent Nile ships, but it means everything above comes from sellers. The "Royal" prefix does not link it to MS Royal Ruby (our Royal Ruby page) or to the other "Royal" ships on the river: see our guide to the four Royal ships.
Royal Esadora itinerary: Monday from Luxor, Friday from Aswan
Royal Esadora runs the classic weekly loop: 4 nights from Luxor every Monday and 3 nights from Aswan every Friday. Join both halves and you have a 7-night round trip. These are the busiest weekdays on the Nile, shared with Sonesta, Mövenpick, Steigenberger Legacy and many independents, so expect company at the quays and temples.
- 4 nights from Luxor (Monday): the fuller version. West Bank on day 2, then the Esna lock, Edfu, Kom Ombo at dusk, and a full day of Aswan sights at the end. Our Luxor to Aswan cruise guide has the day-by-day.
- 3 nights from Aswan (Friday): the same temples in less time, with Kom Ombo and Edfu on one day and Luxor sightseeing that may fall after check-out. See our Aswan to Luxor cruise guide.
Abu Simbel and the Luxor balloon flight are extras on agency packages unless the quote lists them.

Royal Esadora prices
One Egyptian agency publishes these fares per person for Royal Esadora:
| Trip | May–August | September–April |
|---|---|---|
| 3 nights, double cabin | $650 | $785 |
| 3 nights, triple cabin | $640 | $780 |
| 3 nights, single | $1,115 | $1,315 |
| 4 nights, double cabin | $790 | $895 |
| 4 nights, triple cabin | $780 | $875 |
| 4 nights, single | $1,260 | $1,460 |
These are exactly the same fares the agency lists for Nile Dolphin. Egyptian agencies often price ships in tiers, and the ship you get on a "5-star cruise" can be decided close to departure. If you want Royal Esadora in particular, get the ship's name written on your confirmation.
Ask too whether the fare includes the entry fees. Most Egyptian agency packages include the standard sites, but if yours doesn't, budget EGP 4,060 per adult for the eight sites of a standard cruise, plus tips (no official rule; agencies suggest roughly US$5–10 per person per night for the crew and US$10–15 per day for the guide). Ticket prices are on the ministry's official ticket shop.
For comparison, the platforms sell unnamed 3-night cruises on the same route for less. The plain 3-night cruise from Aswan with a guide starts at $450, and the 3-night cruise with Abu Simbel and a Luxor balloon flight at $580, with 555 reviews (4.5). Both are sold as "a 5-star ship or similar": the operator chooses the ship, so ask for its name, the cabin deck and the list of included entry fees after you book.

What travellers say about the Esadora Nile cruise
We have not found enough reviews of Royal Esadora by name to report common themes, and none of the booking platforms sells it by name. Before you book, ask the agency these questions rather than relying on old reviews:
- Which deck is the cabin on, and does it have a Juliet balcony?
- Which entry fees, if any, are included, and is the guide shared or private?
- Where does the ship moor in Luxor and Aswan, and are transfers included?
- What is the Wi-Fi charge, and does the lift serve every passenger deck?

How to book Royal Esadora
Royal Esadora is sold by Egyptian agencies. There is no direct booking channel and no platform listing that names it. If a "4-Day Nile Cruise… or similar" listing turns out to be on Royal Esadora, that's fine, but you cannot choose it there. Our guide to the booking platforms explains how those listings work.
Alternatives to Royal Esadora
- Same weekdays, published by the operator: Sonesta's Monday/Friday ships, including the Sonesta Moon Goddess with private balconies on most cabins.
- Same price band, published rates: MS Mayfair, whose per-night rates include sightseeing and entry fees (no sailings June–August).
- Cheaper: the plain 3-night platform cruise from $450, or the budget ships in our best budget Nile cruises.

Esadora Nile cruise: questions
Is Esadora the same ship as Royal Esadora?
Yes. Agencies sell it as "MS Royal Esadora", and "Esadora" is a common short form of the same ship.
When does the Royal Esadora Nile cruise depart?
Every Monday from Luxor for 4 nights and every Friday from Aswan for 3 nights. The two halves join into a 7-night round trip.
How much is the Royal Esadora Nile cruise?
One agency lists $650 per person for 3 nights in a double cabin from May to August and $785 from September to April; 4 nights cost $790 and $895. Check whether entry fees are included.
Do Royal Esadora cabins have balconies?
The sellers describe French (Juliet) balconies: a door that opens onto a rail, not a balcony you can sit on.
Does Royal Esadora have Wi-Fi?
Only when the ship is docked, and the sellers describe it as intermittent and chargeable.
Can I book Royal Esadora on GetYourGuide?
Not by name. Platform cruises say "5-star ship or similar", so the operator assigns the ship. Book through an agency that names it if you want this ship.
