The Renaissance Nile cruise is easy to find on hotel-booking sites and hard to find anywhere else. Its listing gives a weekly timetable and a pool on the sun deck, and a recent traveller review shows the ship in service. Beyond that, nothing is published. Our verdict: book it only through a seller who can show you the cabin and the inclusions in writing; otherwise choose one of the Thursday/Monday ships below that publish their facts.

The ship: what is known

Two things are on record. A booking-site listing titled "Nile Cruise Renaissance every Monday from Aswan 3 nights and every Thursday from Luxor 4 nights" describes a sun deck with an outdoor pool. And a traveller page for "Renaissance Nile Cruise" carries a review from January 2026, so the ship was operating then.

No official website, owner, cabin count, build year or star rating from an inspector was found. Most Nile ships sold to foreigners call themselves five-star; the label covers a wide range, and no public ministry list of rated Nile ships exists.

Itinerary: Monday from Aswan, Thursday from Luxor

3 nights from Aswan every Monday to Luxor, and 4 nights from Luxor every Thursday to Aswan: the two halves of one weekly loop. The core sites are the same on every ship on this route: Philae and the High Dam in Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu, the West Bank in Luxor (Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut) and Karnak with Luxor Temple.

On the 3-night downstream run, Kom Ombo and Edfu share one day. On the 4-night upstream run you reach Kom Ombo later in the day; the temple admits visitors until 20:00, so evening visits are possible. See Aswan to Luxor and Luxor to Aswan for the day-by-day on ships that publish it.

Thursday/Monday ships that publish more

If MS Renaissance's dates suit you, these ships sail on the same weekdays and publish cabin counts or prices:

Ship Weekdays What is published
Steigenberger Minerva Luxor Thu / Aswan Mon 77 units; sightseeing charged at check-in if booked direct
Steigenberger Royale Luxor Thu / Aswan Mon 52 units
JAZ Crown Jubilee Luxor Thu / Aswan Mon 80 units, no suites
Mövenpick Sun Ray Luxor Thu / Aswan Mon 62 units; no sailings June–August

Medea Luxor Thu / Aswan Mon 59 cabins and suites; agency 3 nights $1,051 / $1,575

Nile Carnival also sails Thursday from Luxor and Monday from Aswan, but publishes as little as MS Renaissance. The JAZ and Steigenberger timetables are on jazcruises.com.

Renaissance Nile cruise prices

No price for MS Renaissance was found. A booking-site rate and an agency package are different products: the first may be a cabin with meals, the second usually adds transfers, a guide and some or all entry fees. Ask for the list of included sites.

If entry fees are excluded, budget about EGP 4,060 per adult for the eight sites of a standard cruise (students half); check current prices on the official ticket shop. Agencies suggest tipping roughly US$5–10 per person per night for the crew and US$10–15 per person per day for the guide.

On the platforms, a comparable 3-night Aswan → Luxor cruise starts at $450. These listings say "5-star ship or similar", so the ship is assigned by the operator, but you get reviews, a price for your date and, on most GetYourGuide bookings, free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead (multi-day cruises may differ; check the listing).

What travellers say

We could not collect review themes for MS Renaissance, and we don't repeat opinions we haven't checked. Ask the seller these questions instead:

  • What is the ship's full name on the hull and on my voucher?
  • Which deck is my cabin on, and does it have a picture window or a porthole?
  • Which sites' entry fees are included, and is the guide an Egyptologist?
  • Is the departure Monday from Aswan or Thursday from Luxor on my date?
  • What is the ship's rating on hotel-booking sites?

How to book

MS Renaissance is sold on hotel-booking sites, and Egyptian agencies may offer it in packages. No platform names it: if you book a platform cruise, ask the operator for the ship's name before paying. For a known ship on the same days, book one from the table above; for a known price with reviews, book a 4-day Nile cruise on the platforms. Every reviewed ship is in the ships directory.
