Andrea Maadi is a ship-restaurant on the Corniche el-Nil in Maadi, opposite Al-Salam Hospital. It shares its name with the Andrea grill restaurants, and a business directory lists it under its former name, "Le Memphis" floating restaurant. A Cairo listings magazine described it as a boat serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with shisha on a sun deck.
Dinner-cruise resellers sell evenings "aboard the Andrea Maady boat": about two hours with an Egyptian buffet, belly dance and tanoura (the whirling Sufi-style skirt dance), with hotel pickup. Tiqets sells it as the "Nile River Memphis Dinner Cruise", boarding at "Andrea Memphis El Maadi, in front of Al Salam Hospital".
Whether each sitting actually sails, or stays at the quay, is not published. Cairo's riverbank has many restaurants on moored boats as well as boats that cruise, and the two are easily mixed up. If sailing matters to you, ask the seller before you pay.
Andrea is not Memphis Tours, and not a Luxor–Aswan ship
Two mix-ups follow this boat around:
- Memphis Tours. The "Memphis" in the Tiqets title comes from the boat's old name, Le Memphis. It has nothing to do with the Egyptian agency Memphis Tours, which has no Andrea page on its website and runs no ship of that name.
