Marriott and Hilton Nile cruises in Cairo: which boat you actually get

Neither Marriott nor Hilton runs a dinner cruise in Cairo. The "Marriott Nile cruise" is the Nile Maxim, a separate company's boat moored in front of the Cairo Marriott in Zamalek. Book it by its own name.

There is no Marriott Nile cruise in Cairo, and no Hilton one either. What visitors call the "Marriott Nile cruise" is almost always the Nile Maxim: a dinner boat moored directly in front of the Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino in Zamalek, but run by a separate company. It is a good boat to book. Just book it as the Nile Maxim, and compare prices, because the same boat sells for very different amounts on the three platforms.

Is there a Marriott Nile cruise in Cairo?

No. The Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino, at 16 Saray El Gezira Street in Zamalek, lists 15 restaurants, bars and lounges on its official dining page, and none of them is a boat. Its riverside "Egyptian Nights" is an open-air venue with music on land, not a cruise.

The boat at the hotel's riverfront is the Nile Maxim. A Cairo listings magazine named its operator as the International Company for Touristic Projects, which set up the Maxim venues in 1995, starting with the cruise. The Maxim name now covers a small complex, with the dinner cruise plus moored restaurants and 21-and-over lounges. At least one guidebook listing describes the boat as "run by the Marriott"; the hotel's own outlet list shows it isn't.

What this means for you:

  • You don't need to be a Marriott guest: anyone can book the Nile Maxim, through the platforms or resellers.
  • The hotel can't sell you a "Marriott cruise", because it doesn't run one.
  • The boarding point is easy if you are in Zamalek or downtown; from Giza or pyramid-area hotels the transfer is long.

The Nile Maxim in brief

The Nile Maxim sails once an evening at 20:00 for about two hours, and you should arrive about 30 minutes early. It seats up to 240 guests on a single level, which is why window tables matter here more than on boats with an open top deck. Dinner is a set menu with a salad bar (grilled chicken, sea bass or veal, according to the menu card resellers supply). Some listings say buffet, so check your voucher. The show is tanoura, belly dance and live music. Alcohol is sold on board at extra cost, and drinks are not included. The dress code is smart casual. On accessibility, sellers disagree, so ask before booking.

GetYourGuide's Nile Maxim listing is the dearest and has the lowest rating of the named boats (3.9). The platforms may differ in seat type, date and transfers, so compare what each includes.

Headout also sells an "exclusive" version at $75 with a guaranteed window or stage table: an upgrade of the same ticket, resold by an agency, not a different boat. GetYourGuide's "VIP" Maxim listing has a single review so far.

Is there a Hilton Nile cruise in Cairo?

We found no Hilton dinner boat in Cairo, and no Sofitel, Four Seasons or Fairmont one either. Searches turn up only resellers selling the usual independent boats. The Four Seasons Cairo at Nile Plaza offers a felucca ride (a traditional sailing boat) as a hotel experience, but we couldn't confirm the details. For an independent sail, see felucca rides in Cairo.

Hilton's link to the Nile is elsewhere. Its Waldorf Astoria brand has announced a Luxor–Aswan cruise ship with 29 suites and 4- and 6-night trips, due to launch in late 2026. That is a multi-day cruise in Upper Egypt, not a Cairo dinner boat; see luxury Nile cruises for the new ships.

Other dinner boats if the Maxim isn't right

  • Nile Crystal, in Maadi: an open buffet, an upper deck, and a sunset sitting around 18:00 as well as later ones; from $31 on Headout. The cheaper big boat.
  • Nile Pharaohs, on the Giza bank: an Egyptian-oriental open buffet, a late 22:30 sitting, and 15 % off direct for two or more.
  • Opal and Royal Topaz: newer boats named on GetYourGuide, rated 4.7. The Opal dinner cruise starts from $45; the boarding point is on your voucher.

Our Cairo dinner cruise guide compares every boat. Avoid listings that don't name the boat at all; the biggest generic one on GetYourGuide doesn't.

Practical tips for a Zamalek dinner cruise

  • Pickup is usually 45–90 minutes before the 20:00 departure for central Cairo and Giza hotels; New Cairo, Heliopolis and the airport cost extra on many listings.
  • Drinks, often even water, are extra on the big boats. Carry some cash as well as a card.
  • Sunset: the Maxim's 20:00 sailing is after dark all year. In Cairo the sun sets around 17:00 in winter and around 20:00 in midsummer.
  • Ramadan: check sitting times and the show with the seller.
  • Cancellation: Headout's window/stage listing allows a full refund up to 24 hours before; Tiqets dinner cruises can be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead. Check each listing.

Does the Cairo Marriott have a Nile cruise?

No. The hotel's dining list has no boat. The dinner boat in front of it is the Nile Maxim, run by a separate company.

How much is the Nile Maxim dinner cruise at the Marriott?

From $70 on Headout, $75 on Tiqets and $122.55 on GetYourGuide on the latest check. Drinks are extra.

Is there a Hilton Nile dinner cruise in Cairo?

We found none. Hilton's Waldorf Astoria brand has announced a Luxor–Aswan cruise ship, which is a multi-day cruise, not a Cairo dinner boat.

Do I need to stay at the Marriott to take the Nile Maxim?

No. Anyone can book it, and most listings offer pickup from Cairo and Giza hotels.

What time does the Nile Maxim leave?

At 20:00, for about two hours. Arrive around 30 minutes early.
